Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman informed Parliament on Tuesday that the number of billionaires in India in 2020-21 is 136. This is based on the gross total income declared in the income tax return filed during the financial year 2020-21. The data reveals that the number of billionaires have come down from 141 in 2019-20. Sharing data on poverty, the Finance Minister said that the number of persons living below the poverty line in India was estimated at 27 crores or 21.9% in 2011-12. Repayment periods range from three to five years and an initial repayment moratorium period ranging from three to six months.
