Number coding scheme remains suspended for PUVs -- MMDA

Number coding scheme remains suspended for PUVs — MMDABy The Manila TimesTHE number coding traffic scheme for public utility vehicles (PUVs) in Metro Manila remained suspended on Tuesday to provide commmuters with additional transport, a day after a strong earthquake struck parts of Luzon. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) gave its directive despite the resumption of train operations. The MMDA said, however, that the suspension did not include private vehicles, said MMDA spokesman Celine Pialago. Under the number coding scheme, both private and public vehicles are banned on the road for a day depending on the last number on their license plates. The MMDA started its dry-run as part of its bid to ease traffic in Metro Manila.
