Nuke plant reactor isn't back online yet, but power supply is stable

TAIPEI, Taiwan — Premier Lin Chuan reassured the public Monday that the energy supply would remain stable, even as a Third Nuclear Power Plant reactor remained offline after failing the previous day. The second reactor of the Pingtung County plant shut down 1:10 a.m. Sunday. Taipower has also deployed extra generators to power plants in Miaoli and Kaohsiung to shore up the energy supply, according to Lin. It was the second round of reassurances the government has had to make in as many days. On Sunday, Taipower officials said there was no need for concern about the Third Nuclear Power Plant's failure, saying that no radiation leaks had been detected.
