Lewis Cattanach, 27, was stood in the Senhouse Street car park in Whitehaven with another male just after 2.30am on February 23. George Shelley, prosecuting at Workington Magistrates’ Court, said police wanted to search them under the Misuse of Drugs Act. He refused to confirm his identity and when asked why he had run off from the officer, he said he didn’t like the police. They were talking about doing a search but hadn’t gone through the formality. “It’s a shame, now he’s convicted, he’s lost his good character.
