BEIJING: China's military rulers have introduced a mobile phone app that will control what soldiers can surf on the Internet. Neither can the soldiers uninstall the programs on the phones. The app has different versions, and every military detachment will decide which one is best for soldiers working there.The mobile phones are not free although their use has been restricted. Soldiers can purchase compatible phones from China Telecom, or obtain an exclusive code from the army in order to download and install the terminal.The app platform has developed links with seven Chinese mobile phone producers to provide a wide variety of compatible phones. Once soldiers retire, their phones can still be used as ordinary cell phones once they go through a special update.
