Novel a fresh perspective on old, sad story of the Dionne Quintuplets

More than 1,000 people showed up hoping to meet Annette, one of two surviving Dionne quintuplets. The five identical sisters, or the “Quints,” as media dubbed them, hold a familiar but dark place in Canadian history. Shelley Wood is the author of the new epistolary novel The Quintland Sisters, exploring the lives of the Dionne Quintuplets. Between 1934 and 1943, it’s estimated that more than three million people visited Quintland, including celebrities like Shirley Temple and Jimmy Stewart. She began tracking down everything she could find on the sisters, including their first co-authored memoir, We Were Five, published in 1965 by Simon & Schuster.
