Novak Djokovic overcame Gael Monfils in brutal conditions at the Australian Open. The thermometer headed towards 40C in the shade as Djokovic and Monfils took to a sun-baked Rod Laver Arena for their second-round clash. Djokovic, who has had his fair share of struggles in the heat during his career, said: "It was obvious that we both suffered on the court. It was certainly more than hot enough for Monfils, who began to double over repeatedly early in the second set. He let Monfils off the hook for most of the second set, too, before finally converting a break point at 4-3.
