Nova Scotia police charge 18 men for alleged prostitution activity following targeted investigation


HALIFAX—A months-long police investigation into prostitution activity in downtown Sydney has led to charges for 18 men who range in age from 26 to 85. In a media release Friday, Cape Breton Regional Police announced the 18 men from throughout the Cape Breton Regional Municipality face charges of obtaining sexual services for consideration “as the result of ongoing and extensive investigation in response to continued prostitution activity in downtown Sydney.”Crime scene tape is shown. Close to 20 people have been charged in Cape Breton. All 18 men were released on a promise to appear in Sydney provincial court beginning Monday. The investigation was led by the community safety enforcement unit, with assistance from investigators and patrol officers.
