KUALA LUMPUR: The ringgit opened lower against the US dollar on lack of interest, said a dealer. At 9.15 am, the local unit stood at 4.1960/1990 against the greenback from Friday’s close of 4.1900/1930. A dealer said the US dollar strengthened against a basket of currencies as investors remained focused on a planned US tax reform. The ringgit, however, was traded mixed against a basket of major currencies. The local unit eased against the euro to 4.8883/8923 from 4.8855/8899 but rose against the British pound to 5.5043/5095 from Friday’s 5.5099/5155.
