WASHINGTON—The University of Notre Dame on Monday withdrew as host of the first planned presidential debate in late September, citing the need for public-health precautions because of the coronavirus pandemic. The Commission on Presidential Debates announced that the Sept. 29 debate, expected to feature President Trump and presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden, will instead be co-sponsored by Case Western Reserve University and the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio.
