NewsA woman who had allegedly been stealing jewelry worth hundreds of thousands of rupees has been taken into custody by Ambalantota police. She was produced before the Hambantota Magistrate's Court, where she was ordered to be kept in remand custody till August 25. The suspect had been arrested while trying to allegedly steal jewelry from a jewelry shop in Ambalantota town. A 20-year-old man who allegedly aided the suspect to engage in these jewelry thefts has also been arrested. The female suspect had allegedly confessed that she sold the stolen jewelry at various places in the island.
