He passed away in the early hours of Friday morning in Dhaka’s Lab Aid Hospital after suffering a stroke, his family said. His namaz-e-janaza will be held after Jumma prayers at Sobhanbag Mosque followed by a second janaza at the Dhaka Reporters’ Unity at 3pm. Anwarul, the former chief reporter, city editor, diplomatic and defence correspondent of The Daily Star, has served as the press minister at the Bangladesh High Commission in India. The noted journalist had also been the Bangladesh correspondent of the Gulf News. He was the president of the Dhaka Reporters’ Unity for two consecutive terms in 2000 and 2001.
