Jayashree Kabir was crowned Miss Calcutta in 1968. She entered the film industry in the 1970s, making her debut in a film directed by Satyajit Ray based on a story by Sunil Gangopadhyay. Jayashree Kabir had been living in London for many years, where she also served as an English teacher at a university.
