BENGALURU: Amazon India's daily consumables category, which includes gourmet food and washing powder, has emerged as among its biggest, driving additional growth momentum for the online retailer in India. Amazon India has started its two-hour delivery service of daily essentials called Amazon Now in Mumbai, following Bengaluru and parts of New Delhi. The company sells consumables through its website Amazon.in as well as Amazon Now, its recently launched on-demand delivery platform available as an Android app. For the quick-delivery service, Amazon has partnered with local retailers including Foodworld, Big Bazaar and HyperCITY . Agarwal did not provide a breakup of how much of daily consumables were sold through Amazon Now and Amazon.in, only saying: "Amazon Now is a very meaningful size of the share. "Amazon India has introduced a slew of its international programmes in the country in the last two quarters — such as 'Subscribe & Save' and 'Amazon Pantry' — to drive sales of daily items.
