A Kimbell bloke making Swappa Seats inspired by the Kiwi tradition of Swappa Crates has been inundated with orders for his nostalgic furniture. Craig Divers has been upcycling the old beer crates into blanket-covered seats in his shed for the past two years. "It's that Kiwi nostalgia, the crates remind people of barbecues ... and they appeal to young people because of Crate Day." The Six O'Clock Swill, as it was known, ended in 1967 but the Swappa Crate continued, according to NZHistory. John Bisset/The-Timaru-Herald Craig Divers' Swappa Seats, made from recycled beer crates and New Zealand wool blankets, are in high demand.
