Kiwi are dying at an "appalling rate" after being hit by drivers on the roads, conservationists say. Kerikeri Peninsula Pest Control has erected large signs urging motorists to slow down and letting them know the kiwi "road toll". DEAN WRIGHT Kiwi are so commonly seen on the roads around Kerikeri peninsula, this one was spotted in the daytime, trying to get a feed during the 2013 drought. DEAN WRIGHT Kerikeri Peninsula Pest Control has put up signs urging motorists to slow down from dusk till dawn. DEAN WRIGHT Seven kiwi have been killed on just 10km of road in the Kerikeri peninsula this year.
