A police officer in the North West has been arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, the South African Police Service (SAPS) in the province has said. “The assurance comes after Constable Clayson Madupe (36) and working at Mogwase police station, was arrested on Thursday, 4 August 2022, at his residential place for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend,” SAPS North West spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone said in a statement on Sunday, 7 August 2022. Madupe is expected to make an appearance at the Mogwase Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 8 August 2022. NORTH WEST POLICE COMMISSIONER CONDEMNS GBVIn the wake of the police officer’s arrest, the North West Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Sello Kwena has condemned gender-based violence and assured the province that it won’t be tolerated, including amongst SAPS employees.
