North Sea storms collapse sea wall at 'California-style' mansion in picturesque Scots townThe owners of Chapel Green House in the seaside town of Elie and Earlsferry originally wanted to build an underground swimming pool behind the wall – but now it's taped off for safety reasonsView 3 Images The sea wall of a house in Elie and Earlsferry has been badly damaged by stormy weather conditions (Image: SWNS)A 'California-style' mansion's sea wall once planned to contain a window and swimming pool has been torn apart by storms. The property sits on top of a large sea wall – which over the last two months has been badly eroded by waves. Pictures taken at low tide show three gaping holes in the wall with stones and debris strewn across the shoreline. Plans were revealed by architects with some neighbours concerned that the home would be "better suited to Beverly Hills" than the North Sea coast. The plans had initially included an underground swimming pool with a glass window cut into the sea wall, which was nixed in 2024 as construction was scaled back.
