North Rift leaders want KVDA disbanded for being 'stumbling block'

North Rift leaders have called for the disbandment of Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA) since it has failed to perform its core functions. The leaders faulted the agency for failing to implement key projects in the region, thereby becoming "a stumbling block to development". Led by Josphat Nanok, who is Turkana governor and chairman of the Council of Governors, the leaders called for the transfer of KVDA functions to counties. “The functions of KVDA should be transferred to counties and their assets transferred to North Rift Economic Bloc (Noreb),” said Nanok. Mandago called on the government to support leaders in the North Rift region and NGOs to participate in the projects they initiate.
