North MPs differ on climate change

The Climate Change Projections and Implications for Northland report, published in the Northern Advocate last week, has warned that a "business as usual" global emissions scenario would dramatically disturb Northland's climate by the end of century. The report, commissioned by the Northland Regional Council, said climate change would include increased wildfires, flooding and coastal erosion, invasive pests and more drought. We must stop seeing climate change as a future event. Labour's MP for Te Tai Tokerau, Kelvin Davis, said the implications of climate change on Northland's economy was a concern. He said the National government had a "tawdry record over climate change".
