South Korea believes at least one of the missiles may have been launched from a submarine. South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) earlier said that North Korea had fired an unidentified projectile from around Wonsan, Kangwon. The launch came a day after North Korea announced it would hold working-level talks with the United States at the weekend. North Korea and the United States agreed to hold negotiations on October 5, the rogue state's official news agency KCNA said yesterday. However the outcome remained uncertain as North Korea repeatedly launched short-range ballistic missiles and often criticised the United States for continuing joint military drills with South Korea.
