North Korea has dismantled its nuclear test site, in a planned move portrayed by the isolated regime as a goodwill gesture. The explosions at the nuclear test site deep in the mountains of the North's sparsely populated northeast were reportedly centered on three tunnels into the underground site and a number of observation towers in the surrounding area. Youngbyon had ceased operating the year before after a series of complex negotiations between North Korea, China and the US. North Korea's vice foreign minister had slammed Pence for his 'unbridled and impudent remarks that North Korea might end like Libya.' Pence was a focal point in the initial stages of diplomacy between the U.S. and North Korea.
