Forecaster April Clark said east coast regions in the North Island stretching from Gisborne down to Wairarapa would get more snow today. Clark said there was a possibility snow would continue falling in eastern regions of the North Island for the next few days. Last night the country shivered through sub-zero temperatures with Mt Cook airport in the South Island dipping to -14.1C and the Desert Road in the North island on -8.4C. NZTA warned motorists to take care in the central and lower North Island as roads continue to be heavily impacted by snow, flooding and road closures. Civil Defence staff are heading into homes cut off by snow in the Hawke's Bay hill country anticipating snow will keep falling until the middle of the week.
