North Island bowlers prove too strongThe touring North Island representative indoor bowls team continued their winning way when they defeated the Top of The South selection by 29-19 at Blenheim's Simcox Stadium on Wednesday evening. Then, in the final round, normal service resumed and the visitors won comfortably. Janet Fenemor pushed her opponent by taking the second match by 13 to 7 over Denise Clarkson and was in the fight in the final match before going down 13-8. Marlborough's Steve Grant's triples combo, which included Julian Adams, played well but went down 1-2 to the North Islanders. The women's' team did not fare as well, although the women's four drew their match against their Northern rivals, with Nicola Clemett at lead and Natasha McLauchlan at two playing some excellent bowls.
