North Carolina braces for snow, ice and cold temperatures


A wind-chill advisory is in effect in 22 counties in western North Carolina. Up to 3 inches (8 centimetres) of snow is expected along the Outer Banks with 5 inches (13 centimetres) expected in eastern North Carolina. Also, the weather service in Wakefield, Virginia, has posted a blizzard warning for extreme northeastern North Carolina. Dominion Energy, which serves northeastern North Carolina, was reporting less than 10 customers without power Wednesday afternoon. In western North Carolina, where snow wasn’t expected, wind chills of -25 F (-32 C) degrees are possible through Thursday.
