North Africa pressure system colours skyThe Algarve, parts of Alentejo and Madeira are to be affected by dust from North Africa until Friday the Portuguese weather agency (IPMA) said on Thursday. IPMA told reporters the situation was due to a low pressure system over Morocco that was carrying suspended dust from North Africa in its winds. The system is affecting a huge area from Tunisia to the Canaries as well as the Iberian Peninsula and Madeira. The weather agency said the dust gives the sky a yellowish colour but it should gradually disappear over the coming days.
