Among the many provinces in the Philippines, Marinduque has been fortunate to have its non-traditional vegetables documented for their nutritional value. Those who have profiled the non-traditional vegetables in the province claim these have high nutritional and nutraceutical values. They discovered the following non-traditional vegetables thriving in Marinduque: tagbak, dalaura, katagpo, himbabao, takip-kuhol, kalingan, kabatete, anonang, salsalida, kamamba and payaw. The researchers concluded that the above-mentioned non-traditional vegetables exhibit the convergence between agriculture, environment and culture. Furthermore, majority of the identified non-traditional vegetables are rich in vitamins A and C, carbon, calcium, iron and zinc.
