More research is starting to show that women can benefit from lifting weights, perhaps even more than men. That’s because they are more susceptible to bone density and muscle loss as they age. But experts say gyms need to make a few changes to get more women into the weight room. Michelle Segar is a University of Michigan behavioral scientist who studies exercise habits. She says that feeling out of place and not knowing where to begin are barriers for some women.
