Nobel prize winning economist Professor Muhammad Yunus is in New Zealand to help solve some of the country's toughest social challenges. He likens his desire to help solve social problems to that of being bitten by a bug. While he said social business solve problems, he says smart business is fixing problems and making money at the same time. Any industry can be a successful social business, Yunus said. Healthcare, environment, energy, waste management and forestry, production and marketing are current examples of industries seeing successful social businesses.
