At the maiden meeting in Accra on Tuesday, the two major political parties emphasized the need to stop the activities of political vigilante groups in the country. Both parties have among other things, agreed to stop the ownership, hiring and the utilization of vigilante or militia groups by political members. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Onua FM’s Yen Sempa hosted by Bright Kwasi Asempa on Wednesday, Chairman of the National Peace Council Rt Rev Professor Emmanuel Asante said “this is the first step and we have not settled on anything”. He promised that an amicable solution would be reach before the 2020 elections to avert political parties using vigilante groups.
