KUALA LUMPUR: National coach Tan Cheng Hoe has warned naturalised player Liridon Krasniqi that he will not get preferential treatment during international assignments. The Kosovo-born Krasniqi was granted Malaysian citizenship recently and is awaiting clearance from FIFA for a chance to play for the national team. If everything goes well, Krasniqi will be available for the pre-World Cup away match against the United Arab Emirates on March 26. The FA of Malaysia (FAM) hope FIFA will clear Krasniqi before the registration window for the pre-World Cup closes on March 20. FAM secretary-general Stuart Ramalingam said: “Krasniqi will only complete his five-year period (a requirement under FIFA regulations) on March 25.
