PETALING JAYA: DAP leaders have been told not to engage with former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak as this would supposedly give him the opportunity to distract global attention from his corruption trial. DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng claimed that he has received many requests from party leaders to respond to Najib’s claims, including those about the proposed Penang undersea tunnel. Lim claimed that Najib has never explained fully the 1MDB scandal and the billions of ringgit found in his personal bank account. Lim claimed that Najib has also made racist and extremist attacks against Pakatan Harapan leaders, with DAP being his favourite soft target, to pit Malays against non-Malays or Muslims against non-Muslims. Lim's statement comes after his father and DAP stalwart Lim Kit Siang called off the much-anticipated debate with Najib, claiming that it may turn into a racial conflict.
