Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga stated today that the allegation made by the health professionals organization that a decision has been taken to privatize the PCR laboratory at the Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake was false. He said that these allegations were a part of a false propaganda being promoted by the opposition to embarrass the government. “The relevant PCR laboratory at the Katunayake Airport was established when the airport was closed due to the Covid epidemic. The laboratory was set up to conduct PCR tests on Sri Lankans arriving in Sri Lanka. He said that especially when the second wave of Covid started from Minuwangoda, PCR samples taken from the Gampaha District and various parts of the island were tested and reports were given from this laboratory
