No need for Suhakam to monitor GE14

PUTRAJAYA: There is no need for the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) to monitor the 14th General Election, said the Election Commission (EC). Its chairman Tan Sri Mohd Hashim Abdullah said EC had invited international observers and appointed several independent parties to observe and monitor the GE14 process. “EC views Suhakam’s involvement in GE14 as election observer as unnecessary because we have invited international observers and also appointed independent parties to observe and monitor the election process. “In fact, the rules provide that all contesting candidates and parties have the rights to appoint their agents to monitor every GE14 process. Hashim said this in response to Suhakam’s application to monitor GE14 which was rejected by EC.
