No help for struggling news media as relief package kicked for touch

The long-awaited second tranche of media assistance has been kicked to touch with no decision likely to be made on it before the election. The first media support package was announced in April. This view is shared by Coalition partners NZ First, which has raised its concerns that a second package could amount to a bailout of benefit for foreign-owned media companies. KEVIN STENT/STUFF Minister Kris Faafoi has kicked the second package of media support to after the election. Of the large media outlets, Stuff Ltd is entirely New Zealand owned, as is TVNZ, which is owned by the Government.
