JOHOR BARU: Police will not hesitate to take action against the organisers of CycleFest 2017 if they continue with plans to include gravity bikes as one of the event’s categories, which will be held on Merdeka Day. The event, which is organised by A-Mart Kempas in collaboration with Johor Extreme Bike, have come under fire from concerned parents and those in the cycling community for featuring a gravity bike race. Gravity bikes, which is another name for mosquito bikes, are heavily modified bikes that do not have safety features like brakes. He added that police had contacted the organisers a few days ago, asking them to remove the gravity bike category from the competition for safety reasons. She added that the bicycles used by participants must meet the safety requirements set by the race organisers.
