'No foul play' in private's deathThe Royal Thai Army has clarified the circumstances surrounding the death of a private from the 2nd Artillery Regiment, King's Guard, saying he died from heart failure and showed no signs of having been assaulted. Maj Gen Winthai said Pvt Phetcharat lost consciousness while being detained at the 12th Military Circle jail. The private was later discovered in this state by detainees who were confined with him, Maj Gen Winthai said. Medical personnel determined the cause of death to be heart failure and that assault played no part in his demise, Maj Gen Winthai said. The army's remarks come as the private's family is demanding answers over his death, pointing to alleged irregularities, including a short spoon found in the private's cremated remains.
