Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had instructed the ministry to not hold any exams for students of class 1-3. The Primary and Mass Education Ministry was initially set put the decision into effect from 2020, but this was later changed to this year. The secretary said: “There will still be an evaluation process for the students before they are promoted to the next class. This year, 33,000 students will receive scholarships under the talent pool quota after the primary closing exams, and 49,500 under the general quota. This brings the total number of students receiving scholarships to 82,500.
