A team of 400 officers – from Internal Security Operations Command, police, administrative officials and prison guards – also conducted random urine testing on 200 male inmates and turned up no signs of drug use. The prison houses 2,548 inmates, both male and female, in nine cell blocks. Provincial command officer Colonel Pitak Julanantho said the authorities would continue conducting searches periodically to ensure the prison remains free from drugs.
