No disenchantment, no alternative in Gujarat: Vijay Rupani

As Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani puts it: "After 325 (with allies) in UP, for Gujarat we have set a target of 150." In the 2012 assembly polls, the BJP won 119 out of 182 in Gujarat, a tally that went up to 123 after by-elections and support of Independents. By that yardstick, 150 in Gujarat is reasonable, reckons Rupani (see interview "No Disenchantment, No Alternative in Gujarat"). It was in 1985 that the caste arithmetic of Congress Gujarat chief Madhavsinh Solanki brought the Kshatriyas, Adivasis, Dalits and Muslims together for a historic win of 149 seats. In its natural course, Gujarat has matured politically; the people of Gujarat trust us and they know exactly what they want.
