Co-Cabinet Spokesman Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana today reiterated that there is no move to suspend the use of AstraZeneca COVID vaccine in Sri Lanka. He stated that only one batch of the vaccines have been discarded in certain European countries, and that Sri Lanka does not have that particular batch of vaccines. However, he said the Ministry of Health has taken steps to investigate the side-effects of the COVID vaccine. The Minister said the existing batch of doses is being used to vaccinate the people above the age of 60 who have been prioritized under the COVAX vaccination programme in the country.
