No decision taken to ramp up strike action by pilots; Union warns of ‘dire consequences’ if next week’s meeting fails

The committee adjourned this afternoon after the Labour Court invited Aer Lingus managers and the union to attend the meeting. It is understood that the Fórsa disputes committee had not made a decision regarding industrial action as the invitation was received before the meeting, and adjourned. Allied Pilots, which represents the 16,000 pilots at American Airlines, is among those to offer its “steadfast” support for the Aer Lingus pilots. The US-based Airline Pilots’ Association, the umbrella group representing 78,000 pilots at 41 IS and Canadian airlines, has also backed the pilots at the Irish carrier. “Aer Lingus management needs to reach a fair and equitable agreement with them now!” he said in an online post.
