The question of whether the Pride flag will fly at Halton Catholic schools for the month of June still hangs in the air. A heated debate at the Halton Catholic District School Board was halted after 2-1/2 hours Tuesday night when trustees voted to continue the discussion at a later date. During Tuesday’s meeting, some opponents said hoisting the rainbow flag would indicate that Halton Catholic schools are condoning same-sex marriages. Those who support seeing the Pride flag fluttering over all Halton Catholic schools say it’s a first step toward inclusion for students who identify as LGBTQ+. Murphy said he will be calling a special board meeting to “deal” with the Pride flag motion ahead of the scheduled May 4 board meeting.
