No cyclone in 1st week of 2020 — PagasaMANILA, Philippines — No tropical cyclone is expected to enter the Philippines in the first week of 2020, the state weather bureau said yesterday. The northeast monsoon is forecast to bring cooler weather in parts of Luzon during the weekend, Ariel Rojas, weather specialist at the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), said. Generally fair weather is expected over Metro Manila this New Year with chances of isolated rain due to thunderstorm. Tomorrow, the northeast monsoon will bring cooler temperatures over the metropolis, ranging from 23 to 29 degrees Celsius. The northeast monsoon will bring rough seas in the seaboards of Batanes, Babuyan, Calayan, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur, Rojas said.
