No charges against Winnipeg officers who shot 9 times and wounded getaway driver

Two Winnipeg police officers who shot and wounded a fleeing suspect will not be criminally charged, after the conclusion of an investigation by Manitoba's police watchdog. The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba's final report released Wednesday reveals two Winnipeg Police Service officers shot their guns nine times during a short high-speed pursuit in January 2019. The incident began when police were responding to a complaint of an attempted stabbing in the northeast part of the city, investigators wrote. Two officers shot their guns at the vehicle as it tried to escape. One of them had a "superficial wound" to his neck, and the two others were not injured, investigators wrote.
