No bail for Cork man accused over €600k cannabis haul


Bail was refused on Tuesday in in the case against a 31-year-old man who was allegedly sitting in a car outside his address in Cork with over €600,000 worth of cannabis. Derek Kavanagh, of 69 Arderrin Way, the Glen, Cork, appeared by video link from prison at Cork District Court where he made his bail application through solicitor Frank Buttimer. Sergeant John Dineen said gardaí were not satisfied that the accused had become clear of addictions after 27 days in custody. €28,000 drugs debtDetective Garda Rory Fogarty said that by the defendant’s own admission following his arrest, he had a €28,000 drugs debt. He was charged by Det Garda Rory Fogarty with possession of cannabis and possession of cannabis for sale or supply at Arderrin Way, the Glen, Cork, on January 22.
