It's when she tells a nurse she's thinking about killing herself that a Maternal Mental Health doctor and a counsellor finally see her. It wants targeted investment in maternal mental health to be "a key priority" and says investments should prioritise Māori. "But we have an ongoing programme of investment across mental health, including perinatal mental health, and the programme continues to be rolled out." Despite her history, her doctors, knowing it's extremely hard to get into perinatal mental health services, haven't bothered making a referral this time around.
