Administrators from both schools afterward told the Register that additional attempts to interview fans also would lead to them being escorted out. A member of the football team’s staff saw a photographer on the sideline and exasperatedly said “leave him alone” to no one in particular. “It’s time now to start the healing.”For better or worse, the Creston/Orient-Macksburg incident has grown into a symbol of America's racial struggles. However, the school, and the country, are a long way from being in position to declare the healing has begun. So as much as Creston/Orient-Macksburg High and its surrounding community might wish that things could get back to how they were, and that nosy people would stop asking about a racist photo, it's not going to happen.
