NEW DELHI: In a big political development, taking a high moral ground on irreconcilable differences with ally RJD on the issue of corruption, Nitish Kumar today resigned from the Chief Minister post.Nitish Kumar met Governor Kesari Nath Tripathi at Raj Bhawan to submit his resignation amidst a standoff with ally Lalu Prasad-led RJD. I had requested Lalu Yadav and Tejashwi to clear all the facts regarding the corruption charges. But nothing has happened," Nitish Kumar said outside Raj Bhavan after submitting resignation. So we have decided to call it quits," Nitish said.Asked if he will now form a government with BJP's support, he said, "Whatever had to happen has happened. ""Governor has accepted my resignation and has asked me to continue till the next development," he added.There were speculations that BJP might support Nitish Kumar to form the government.In the 243-member Bihar Assembly, RJD currently has 80 seats while JD(U) has 71 MLAs.
