Some of New Zealand's highest-profile fashion brands have scored poorly in a new report into the industry's ethics. Tearfund's Ethical Fashion Report is compiled in partnership with Baptist World Aid Australia and grades 130 companies representing 480 brands. Seven New Zealand companies were graded in the A range, up from five last year. The report noted that the majority of New Zealand brands had moved manufacturing to China or Southeast Asia, following a global trend for cheaper production. Hart said, while New Zealand companies achieved the international average score, the companies were noticeably clustered at either end of the scale.
